Dumbo, premised on this wonderful notion that difference can be magical and extraordinary, may have inspired T.J. Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea. Each child living in a mansion in a faraway island not only has special powers but is protected by those with special powers. The two main characters advocate for the gifted but not in Professor Dumbledore’s way and so miss the chance of a chorus.
